Target group
AGILITY refers to the paediatric registered nurses working in rural areas such as islands, health centres, and refugee camps who may provide emergency nursing care in infants, children and adolescents.
The already challenging occupation needs continued education. Nurses are extremely difficult to be trained due to occupation and conditions stress. In addition, nurses in rural areas in Greece do not have the opportunity to attend specialised training programs for the management of paediatric emergencies, which results in inadequate management of emergency pediatric cases. Furthermore, lack of health care staff further pressed by the refugees’ camps have been created for the intermediate abidance of a very vulnerable population. Unaccompanied minors, homeless children and pregnant women pose a significant challenge to health care systems. Healthcare system provides insufficient care for such big numbers of refugees due to lack of staff and the already dysfunctional, lacking equity of access in the Greek healthcare system. Furthermore, Covid-19 pandemic has brought a great burden to healthcare systems globally. Agility aims to a sustained long term solution which is essential in order to empower child protection systems and provide them the best possible care.
